Safe Disposal of Expired Medicines
Use the following website to find a location near to you where you can drop off expired or unwanted medicines for safe disposal.
Medical Equipment Recycling
Medical equipment is often used by one patient who paid for that equipment either themselves or via their health insurance company but what can be done with this equipment when the patient no longer needs it. Most of the time medical equipment is simply thrown in the trash but wouldn't it be so much better if it could be put to good use by another person in need.
There are organizations in New Jersey where you can donate or sell medical equipment that you no longer need, making this second hand equipment available to people who need it.
Back In Action
The Disability Rights New Jersey organization operates the Back in Action website that allows New Jersey residents to acquire, sell or donate assistive technology equipment, helping people with disability have greater independence. Any equipment that would help a person with disability can be donated or sold via their website.
They have a very easy to search item listing database so you can see what items people in the community are looking for or advertize the items you wish to donate or sell. Click here to see the item listings or to post an advert.
The items are also subdivided into the following categories to make it easier for a person with disability to find appropriate equipment for their needs.
- Computers and related
- Daily Living
- Environmental adaptations
- Hearing
- Learning, cognitive and developmental
- Mobility, seating and positioning
- Recreation, sports and leisure
- Speech communication
- Vehicle modification and transportation
- Vision
