The Salvation Army accept donations of CDs and DVDs in their thrift stores along with a wide range of other household items. Donations of goods are tax deductable so ask for a receipt if you wish to claim this tax deduction on your tax return. For a complete list of the items they will accept, click here. Swap CDs and DVDs with other people
Swap a CD and its sister website Swap a DVD are websites that allows you to swap your unwanted CDs or DVDs with other people in the world. The way it works is that you register as a member of the website. Then you list all the CDs (or DVDs) that you wish to give away on the website. If one of your CDs is requested by another member then you mail them the CD. In return for sending the CD you earn credits that allow you to request CDs from any other member.
The sender always the postage. You never pay to receive a CD.

Best Buy CD and DVD Recycling
Any unwanted or broken CDs and DVDs can be recycled by taking them to Best Buy stores throughout New Jersey. Simply drop the CD or DVD, along with its case into the collection box located at the front of the store.
Best buy also have recycling boxes for rechargeable batteries, used inkjet printer cartridges and best buy gift cards.
Use the store locator on the Best Buy website to find your nearest store. You do not need to purchase anything in the store to use this recycling facility.
